You’re pregnant, you have a baby in you, you realised you’re responsible to maintain a good physical condition. So you started buying all kinds of supplements, folic acid, calcium, fish oil, iron, vitamins ... the list goes on.
We are not discussing pregnancy supplements today. We’re focusing on the simplest tip to maintain a healthy body that many people forget - drink water!
Human body is 70% water. Amniotic fluid is 99% water.
It is no doubt that you need to drink enough water to maintain your health, your baby’s health, and your toddler’s health.
You should drink 2300 ml (2.3 litre) of water each day.
When we say water, that does not include sweetened drinks or alcohol.
If you don’t drink enough water, you will have higher chances to experience:
Amniotic fluid insufficiency
Insufficient milk production
Urinary tract infection
How do you know you’re drinking enough?
Simply observe the colour of your urine, if it’s light yellow to no colour then it means you’re all good. On the other hand, if you’re experiencing headache, vomiting there is a chance you might drink too much water.
Remember to prepare a water bottle with you everywhere you go!
