(MY Journey) Weekly Pregnancy Journal for Moms and Babies: Week 11

At week 11, your baby has entered the fetal stage and is starting to stretch and kick. You may not feel these movements yet. You can start some regular exercise during pregnancy to control the weight gain and prepare your body for childbirth!

Mom at 11 weeks

At this stage, your belly is slightly growing, and your uterus is now about the size of a medium grapefruit. You may notice that your birthmarks, freckles, new scars, and dark moles become darker due to the pigmentation deepens. These changes are very obvious but temporary.

Due to hormonal changes, there is more vaginal discharge, making the vagina and vulva more prone to fungal infection. Additionally, your breasts are more swollen, and the areolas and nipples become darker. Although your baby is now kicking and stretching, you won’t feel these movements yet.

Baby at 11 weeks

At 11 weeks, your baby is in the fetal stage! The baby is now about 4-5 cm long, with bones gradually hardening through calcification (though the spine remains soft). Their skin is still transparent. They’re now can make small stretching movements, sucking their thumb, kicking, and stretching! Vital organs such as the liver, kidneys, intestines, brain, and respiratory organs are all beginning to work.

Friendly Notice

You can start preparing your muscles for labor by starting some regular exercise during pregnancy, such as walking, swimming, and yoga, which will help you support the extra weight gained during this time!

  • When exercising, it’s recommended to wear breathable, ventilated workout clothes and yoga pants.
  • Since vaginal discharge increases during pregnancy, wearing non-breathable underwear can become a breeding ground for bacteria. It’s advisable to wear breathable and antibacterial maternity underwear!
