MCO: Should I delay baby’s vaccinations?

Many parents are worried about whether they should postpone their vaccination schedule due to MCO. However, at this point, we really don’t know when will MCO end.

Stick to the Schedule
Ministry of Health officials had come out and advise parents to stick to the baby’s original vaccination schedule. As some vaccines are required to get shot before a certain age to become effective, delaying will minimise its efficacy.

Ok, I’m going, what should I do?

  • If you’re going to a private clinic, check with the counter whether they provide a drive-thru vaccination service, so your baby can get a jab in your car.
  • If you’re going to KK, check if the hospital provides a special entrance and room for pregnant women and or babies to avoid the crowd.

Some tips from parents who went to hospitals for vaccinations during MCO.

“I made my husband register for our baby while our baby and I wait in the car. I brought my baby in when it was almost my turn.”

“There were no masks for my baby so I wear my son in a baby sling, his face facing my chests when we enter the hospital. I tried to use my body to block the contact of others with my baby.”

“Of course sanitising hands are essential, but I also wore disposable gloves, I took them off, packed them in a plastic bag when I entered my car. Then I rubbed my hands with alcohol-based sanitiser again.”

Remember to check with the hospital before you drop in.
